Prof Rui Fernandes

Dr. Rui Fernandes is the Medical Director of Oncology Services for the UF Health Northeast Region, providing strategic leadership for oncology care across a four-hospital system. He is Professor and Associate Chairman of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville, where he also serves as Chief of Head and Neck Surgery, Director of the Center for Reconstructive Surgery, and Co-Director of the Skull Base Surgery Program.

Internationally, Dr. Fernandes serves as President of the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (IAOMS) and President of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ACOMS). He is a Consulting Editor for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinics of North America and Atlas of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinics.

Dr. Fernandes has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and co-edited major textbooks in the field. His clinical and academic interests center on head and neck oncology, microvascular reconstructive surgery, and skull base surgery. He directs an accredited Head and Neck/Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship and has mentored trainees who have gone on to leadership positions in academic centers worldwide.
