Associate Professor Breik completed his Dental Degree at the University of Melbourne, his Medical Degree at the University of Adelaide, and undertook Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Training in Melbourne.
Omar is a Fellow of The Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS) and received the medal for the highest marks in both the primary and final fellowship examinations.
Omar practices the full range of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery with a special interest in Oncology and Head and Neck Microvascular reconstructive surgery. Omar is also an active researcher with an interest in advancing techniques, surgical outcomes, and improving quality of life. He is currently doing his phD in bioresorbable metals through UQ, and is an associate professor at Griffith University working with the Griffith Institute for Drug Discovery on cancer diagnostics and therapy. He has published over 70 peer reviewed publications, and several book chapters and lectured in national and international conferences and forums. Omar is a consultant Oral and Maxillofacial/Head and Neck Reconstructive Surgeon at the Royal Brisbane Hospital.
